Summary and Highlights of Achievements in Phase One (2023-2024)

In response to globalization trends, declining birth rates, the impact of the global pandemic, and the rapid growth of digital technology and entrepreneurial education, the university has embraced core educational goals that are centered on innovation and creativity, practical skills, social responsibility, self-management, and digitalization. These are the pillars driving our comprehensive teaching reforms and fostering both new momentum and impactful outcomes in learning. In 2023 and 2024, we achieved remarkable growth in course offerings, teaching innovation, and faculty engagement. By integrating quality assurance mechanisms and external review systems, we have significantly enhanced teaching effectiveness. In the 2024 academic year alone, the number of innovative courses reached a record-breaking 1,067, with 402 instances of faculty participation, reflecting a 10% year-on-year increase. By strengthening professional practice and cross-disciplinary collaboration, we continue to exhibit unparalleled competitiveness. With data, systems, and creativity as our foundation, we are setting the standard for modern, globally impactful, business education.

Highlight 1Innovative Teaching Driving Transformation for a New Learning Experience

At the heart of our initiatives is the promotion of innovative teaching, which has sparked curriculum reform and a transformation of teaching methods. Such efforts have created new learning momentum and achievements for both faculty and students.

  • Significant Growth in Courses and Faculty EngagementIn the 2024 academic year, we offered 1,067 innovative teaching courses, with 402 instances of faculty participation, a 10% increase compared to 2023 and a new record. This growth reflects not only a statistical breakthrough but also the faculty's enthusiasm and strong endorsement of innovative teaching. It also highlights the university's robust support for educational reform.
  • Introduction of an External Review System to Inspire Creative ExcellenceTo further enhance innovation, we introduced an external review system in the 2024 academic year to foster fair competition among colleges and spark creativity. Each college showcased its unique strengths within the existing teaching framework, elevating both course design and execution to new heights. This initiative has led to the development of more diverse and exciting courses, which has, in turn, enriched students' learning experiences and broadened their horizons.

Highlight 2 Breakthroughs in Professional Skills—Students Shine with Prestigious Awards

  • From Theory to Practice: Outstanding Achievements in Capstone Courses and CompetitionsOur Capstone courses successfully bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application. With the support of various innovation platforms, our students have excelled in domestic and international competitions and achieved remarkable results as follows:
    • Design Excellence on the Global Stage:Our students' creativity and execution skills have stood out in various prestigious international competitions, earning such accolades as the "Vision Get Wild Award", the "Golden Pin New Talent Annual Best Design Award", the "Golden Pin New Talent Sponsorship Special Award", and the "German Red Dot Award for Brands & Communication Design".
    • Film and Media Recognition:Student-produced films received global acclaim, including nominations for the Barcelona Author Film Festival (Best Animated Feature) and the Spain Stop Motion Festival (Best Drama). Works of students have also been screened at prominent events like the Paris Lift-Off Film Festival, the Golden Bridge Istanbul International Short Film Festival, and the AnimaFest Zagreb in Croatia, demonstrating world-class production quality.
    • Excellence in Business Management:Students in the Department of Business Administration won first place in the nation two years in a row in the TIMS Marketing Certification Exam. A further 16 students successfully obtained grants from the National Science and Technology Council's Undergraduate Research Projects, showcasing their exceptional talent in business analysis and strategic applications.
  • From National Competitions to Global Arenas: Outstanding Professional SkillsOur students actively participate in skill competitions to enhance their expertise and hands-on capabilities, and have consistently delivered impressive results as follows:
    • At the 2023 ACP National Competition, our students swept the top nine positions in the Graphic Design category and clinched the championship in the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel Expert category. In 2024, they surpassed previous milestones by winning three MOS championships and runner-up in ACP.
    • Five students represented Taiwan in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, earning the silver medal for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024), solidifying the university's reputation in the field of international skills competitions.
  • Innovative Practical Projects and Industry-Academia Collaboration: A Win-WinWe emphasize industry-academia collaboration and cross-disciplinary innovation to enhance students' practical experience and creative abilities, such as the following:
    • In the 2023 Taipei Cross-Border E-commerce Industry-Academia Practical Competition Finals, our student teams won second and third places in the "Online Trade" and "Online Sales" categories, respectively, with six additional teams receiving merit awards. These achievements highlight their exceptional business application skills and have earned widespread recognition from society and industry leaders.
    • At the 2024 FinTech Intercollegiate Innovation Competition, our student teams won 11 awards for innovative financial technology applications. Their accomplishments were highly praised by industry judges and reinforced the university's leadership in FinTech education.

Highlight 3 Reaching New Heights in Industry-Academia Collaboration with Outstanding Achievements in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

  • Nationwide Leadership: The Sole Recipient of the "Bluebird Award" for Eight Consecutive YearsOur university has achieved unparalleled excellence in industry-academia collaboration and is the only university in Taiwan to receive the prestigious Bluebird Award for eight consecutive years, solidifying our position as leader in the field. We also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Education of the Taipei City Government, the Taipei Certified Public Accountants Association, and seven accounting firms to establish the nation's first Business and Finance Technology Teaching Center. This initiative has set a benchmark for strong education-industry integration.
  • Cross-Border Partnerships: Integrating Japan's Animation Industry into Campus LearningThrough an international MOU with MYC Japan, Design Office MECAMAN, and a Taiwanese original multimedia company, we incorporated the comprehensive workflow of Japan's animation industry—including planning, marketing, and production—into our curriculum. This collaboration nurtures globally competitive young animators and has created a groundbreaking model for cross-cultural industry-academia cooperation.
  • Doubling the Scale of Industry-Academia CollaborationIn 2023, we held an industry-academia matchmaking event with four companies, resulting in five cooperative agreements worth over NT$810,000. By 2024, this effort had expanded significantly, attracting 19 companies and securing 25 agreements, more than doubling the scale of collaboration and providing broader platforms for corporate and student development.
  • Innovative Achievements: Student Teams Excel in Various Competitions
    • Brilliant Performance in Smart Business Competitions:At the 2024 Rotary Cup National Youth Smart Business Entrepreneurship Competition, student teams from the Departments of Commercial Design Management and Creative Technology and Product Design won second place. Their precise elevator pitches and innovative solutions earned them the "Dazhi Rotary Club Award", the "Zhongzheng Rotary Club Award", and unanimous praise from the judges.
    • Sustainability in Design – Creating New Value:Inspired by policies addressing abandoned betel nut plantations, the "What's up with Pinang?" project of the Department of Commercial Design Management established a sustainable consumption model, which was shortlisted at the 2024 Best of Young Golden Pin Design Awards and the Young Golden Pin Sponsor Awards. It also won the Gold at the 2024 HSH & 19th Strategies of the Warring States Period Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which included a cash prize of NT$100,000.
    • International Recognition in Entrepreneurship:The university's "Sunny Cloud Cake" project won first prize at the 3rd Yunan and Taiwan Young Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Invitational Competition, while the "Specialty Dining" and "Tie-Dye" projects won third place and an excellence award respectively. The team also won the "Outstanding Organization Award", while Professor Chen Chun-Fu was honored with the "Outstanding Mentor Award", showcasing the exceptional capabilities of both our students and our faculty.
    • Cross-Disciplinary Excellence in Technological Innovation:The "Call.Duck" team earned fourth place with its emergency medical navigation solution in the 2023 5th LINE Chatbot Design Contest. This success highlights our students' outstanding abilities to apply technology and innovation across disciplines.

Highlight 4 Unlimited Teaching Creativity – Faculty Garner Prestigious Awards at Home and Abroad

Our faculty members excel in innovative teaching and practical applications, not only expressing their passion for education but also showing their ability to integrate creativity into practice. Their exceptional efforts have earned numerous accolades, both highlighting the university's prestige and inspiring our students.

  • Excellence in Educational Practice and Professional Teaching:Assistant Professor Wang Chih-Yi and Associate Professor Wu Wei-Chen, both from the Department of Finance, Professor Liu Ya-Wen from the Office of Physical Education, and Assistant Professor Lok U-Hou from the Department of Accounting Information received awards from the 2022 Ministry of Education Teaching Practice Research Program, recognizing their achievements across teaching quality and innovation.
  • Leading Figures in Technical and Vocational Education:Assistant Professors Sze-hsun Sylcien Chang and Wu Kuo-Feng from the Department of Business Administration were selected for the 2024 Taiwan Technical and Vocational Education and Training Convention "Top 100 Skills" initiative. Their contributions to innovative teaching and technical practice make them exemplary representatives of the field.
  • International Accolades in Creative Work:Associate Professor Lin Yu-Ju from the Department of Commercial Design Management received the prestigious "2023 MUSE Design Award" for her creative design work. This globally recognized design field honor showcases the international competitiveness of our faculty's creations.
  • Success in Innovative Projects:Associate Professor Wu Wei-Chen's Dream Building Project stood out from the crowd and earned a merit for its practical and innovative approach. This achievement is yet another milestone in the university's pursuit of educational innovation.

Highlight 5 Leading the Way in Sustainability – Integrating Social Responsibility and SDGs for National Development Policies

  • Fostering Sustainable Development for a Better Future:Our university has signed a University Sustainability Development MOU with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, through which we have jointly pledged to promote sustainability in higher education. This MOU integrates the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching and campus management, advancing the practice of social responsibility and contributing to Taiwan's sustainable development.
  • Promoting Literacy in Rural Communities:In collaboration with the National Taiwan Library, we have organized English storybook activities that featured interactive elements to engage children. Both parents and children loved this initiative and provided positive feedback. We also partnered with the Global Views Educational Foundation to promote literacy programs at Hualien County Zhuoxi Elementary School and Pingtung County Sai Jia Elementary School to lay the groundwork for a culture of reading in rural schools.
  • Enhancing Global Understanding Through Multicultural Education:To foster cultural integration and language learning, we invited international students to hold the "Fun Chat English Camp" in Fangliao Township, Pingtung County. Each lesson, co-designed by local and international students, used fun and interactive methods to introduce children to foreign languages and cultures and thus broaden their international horizons.
  • Volunteer Service for the Underprivileged and Practicing Educational Equality:Students from the NTUB Volunteer Service Club successfully applied for funding from the ASUS Foundation and the Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education and were given additional support from alumni donations. With these funds, they organized a five-day "Tech Fun Camp" for 26 underprivileged children in Fangliao, Pingtung, where they combined education with entertainment to share technological knowledge while fostering a love for learning and providing a sense of support.

 

Conclusion: Innovation and Sustainability – Building the Education Model of the Future

Our university focuses on innovative teaching, professional practice integration, industry-academia collaboration, and sustainable development to fully realize the different values of higher education. From driving learning momentum through teaching innovation, to students and faculty achieving remarkable results in domestic and international competitions and national and international awards, to the integration of campus and community resources, our university has not only upgraded the quality of education but also demonstrated a profound commitment to social responsibility.

Looking ahead, our university will continue to strengthen innovative teaching and educational practice, align with national policies and international trends, and advance the implementation of the UN's SDGs. Our goal is to create a model of higher education that combines international perspectives with local care. Building on our outstanding educational achievements, we are prepared to face future challenges and work together to create a new educational blueprint for a win-win of talent cultivation and industry development, thus contributing to a new chapter in Taiwan's higher education.
