Summary of Project Performance and Noteworthy Achievements in 2021

The National Taipei University of Business participated in the 2021 Higher Education Sprout Project, incorporating aspects of ‘deepening’ and new innovation, following the lead of RICH University, which aims to explore cross-disciplinary thinking and reform, digital applications and deepening humanitarian efforts. Through this Project, we strive to adapt to students’ needs and facilitate the development of our faculty. The following are our goals upon completion of the Project:

  1. Holistic education:Cultivate the three skills of professional expertise, originality, and willingness to engage in public participation.
  2. Assistance for those in need:Provide support and assistance to economically disadvantaged students and indigenous students to promote equal development opportunities.  
  3. Sustainable development:Live up to the social responsibilities of the university and stay current with social development dynamics.

Key Highlight #1: Remarkable academic achievements and commitment to the university’s social responsibilities 

 

  • Yang Lee, an alumnus who majored in business administration, won the gold medal in the Men’s Double Badminton at the Tokyo Olympics. During the semester, he focused on sport while studying business administration. He combined his studies and training in a flexible way.

  • Chao-An Li, a sophomore student majoring in accounting information, came first in the 2020 bookkeepers’ exam.
  • I-Ning Chuang, a postgraduate in master’s accounting and finance program, became a certified accountant in the US.
  • Thirteen departments and programs were evaluated, 12 of which passed, showcasing our teaching quality.
  • A volunteer task force from the countryside representing the NTUB was honored with an “Excellent Submission” award by the 2021 ASUS Foundation i-Taiwan Digital Volunteer Program.

Key Highlight #2: Execution of information literacy training, cross-disciplinary research and promotion of university-wide participation in certification examinations

 

  • Every freshman is required to take the Logical Thinking and Program Design course. The University offers 180 information management courses, in which 2,427 students are enrolled; 23% more compared to 2020.
  • We have promoted virtual learning with online video tutorials. A total of 1,720 students have obtained a MTA international certificate.
  • Some 2,137 certificates for practical competencies have been awarded; up 76.76% compared to 2020.
  • We advocate cross-disciplinary research and 11 digital technology mini-programs have been offered to 1,362 students, 8 additional programs have been offered to 1,119 students, and 10 micro credits have also been offered to 793 students.

Key Highlight #3: Promotion of iPas — a professional certification devised by the MOEA — and bookkeepers’ exam

  • Significant results have been achieved in preparing Entry-level Intangible Assets Appraisers. Test-takers from our institutions account for 45% of the country. Our accounting information majors pride themselves on their pass rates and scores that are above the national standard.
  • Significant results have also been achieved in promoting Entry-level Mobile Application Planning Specialists. Approximately 22% of those who have passed nationwide are from our institution. Those who pass the Introduction to Mobile Application Planning and the Practice of Mobile Application Planning courses account for 23.26% and 21.92% respectively, all with scores that are higher than the national average. The Department of Multimedia Design has truly achieved remarkable results.
  • Ninety-one students participated in the bookkeepers’ exam in 2020. Those who passed from our institution accounted for 17.04% of the total number of students nationwide.

Key Highlight #4: Highly recognized faculty research capacity

 

  • Professor Ruay-Shiung Chang, Professor Kun-Huang Huarng, and Professor Chin-Lung Hsu were honored as they made the top 2% of prominent scientists worldwide.
  • We pride ourselves on the approval rate of MOE teaching projects; 8 were approved in 2018, which rose to 18 in 2021.

Key Highlight #5: Preliminary results from the support provided to economically disadvantaged students

  • The number of economically disadvantaged students registered for assistance rose to 33, a 1.5 times increase. We recruited 11.7% of these students overall.
  • The average score of economically disadvantaged students who received financial aid was 83; three points higher than those without aid, demonstrating how support can contribute to results.
  • Assistance was provided to a student of the Department of Innovative Technology and Product Design so they could participate in the A’ Design Contest in Italy. They won a silver medal in this competition.
